Below is the user interface for the Meta-Abstract Device.

This is the metatype device which is used as the template from which to derive all other devices.

 

The Meta-Abstract Device works in all I/O modes:

1)    Character-mode,

2)    Block-mode-buffered,

3)    DMA without scatter-gather,

4)    DMA with scatter-gather – implemented by the hardware or functional driver.
