HTF Consulting Product Updates

NONE of the following EXEcutable programs are self-extracting. They are ready to run improvements to the program of the same name in HQ-FAX or FAXHAVEN. You simply replace the old program with the downloaded newer version.

Here are the current product updates for HQ-FAX, FAXHAVEN and FAXHAVEN for Windows. (If the Hyper-link fails, then this program is currently unavailable).

This is the true Epson Coorier font. It is equivalent to the IBM code page 437 extended character set for the PC. It varies only slightly from the IBM code page 850.
The older Coorier font which was released with HQ-FAX 6.0 and below, or FaxHaven 4.x and below, provides the Windows/Adobe Type Mngr extended character set.
The files COORECL.fnt & COORECLA.fnt should replace the files COORIER.fnt & COORIERA.fnt respectively in you HQ-FAX directory.
You may wish to rename COORIER*.fnt to COORATM*.fnt., before replacing it. (ATM as in Adobe Type Mngr.)

This program is the conversion utility program for 1-Step FAXHAVEN. Improvements are:

  • produces FAX-ready files of the correct page width regardless of input file,

  • produces FAX-ready files of the length equal the input file,

  • corrects an error in page alignment in multi-page FAX files,

  • corrects the frame size in PCX file headers, (Hello *AGAIN* Magic Corp!)

  • A bug in finding the beginning of the PCX segments of some DCX files is corrected.

    • This program replaces the EXEcutable program CONVERTR.exe in your FAXHAVEN directory.

    Click here for EP2LQFAX.exe This program is the user-interface program for HQ-FAX. This release corrects two problems which have come to light. Converting & FAXing *Just* a cover sheet was disabled by a previous version of this program. Converting a Print-capture of a PCL (HP-Laserjet) print was also disabled in some release of HQ-FAX 4.1 & FAXHAVEN 2.1. These problems are now corrected.
    This program now permits a '*' as the leading character in the dial string.

    Click here for FAXHAVEN.exe This program is the user interface program for 1-Step FAXHAVEN. Numerous minor corrections/improvements have been made since FAXHAVEN ver 2.0.
    A serious problem processing PC-DOS directory lists has been corrected since FAXHAVEN 3.1.
    This program replaces the EXEcutable program FAXHAVEN.exe in your FAXHAVEN directory.

    This program is the FAX/image print program for 1-Step FAXHAVEN. Improvements are:

  • This program now produces print files for Epson-FX (9-pin) and Epson-FX emulating printers.

  • There is also some minor improvement in how 'Condensed mode' is implemented for 180 dpi printers.

  • A bug in finding the top of the page in multi-page FAX files is corrected.

  • A bug in finding the beginning of the PCX segments of some DCX files is corrected.

  • The one-page-only problem is corrected. (Hello Gerard Siebert!)

  • The blank pages problem is corrected. (Hello Gerard Siebert & Rene V.!)
    • This program replaces the EXEcutable program FHPRINT.exe in your FAXHAVEN directory.

    Click here for HQFSEND.exe Improvements are:

  • Increased retry count waiting for the ACK from the receiving station bewteen pages of a transmitted FAX. (Hello *AGAIN* Scott Goldman).
  • Now presents a help screen for registered users. (HQFSEND.exe /?)
  • Now provides for pulse (rotary) dialing. Set send options to: /DP. (Hi John Augustin!)
  • Now provides for Flash-Hook before dialing. Set send options to: /FH.
  • Now provides for FAX modem Class 2.0 service. U.S. Robotics modem owners take note.
  • An error in the broadcast feature has been corrected. The remainder of the broadcast list is now processed properly after a No-Answer condition. *Hello Tom Coons*.
  • Corrects a fatal error on pentiums: (R6003 - Divide by zero).
    Pentium users *MUST* have this version of the program and *MUST* introduce the switch '/P_nnn' on the command-line - where nnn is your processor speed in MegaHertz.
    The accuracy of this number is critical to timing operations.

    Click here for PCL2FAX3.exe Improvements are:

  • This program provides *BOTH* a PCL interface as well as an ECL interface. HQ-FAX ver. 4.0 anticipates that this new program might be available in the future. The existence of this program enables processing PCL (HP-Laserjet) print files. No need to delete ECL2FAX3.exe. Just download this file into your HQ-FAX directory.
  • The header of PCX files have been modified to accomodate several image-processing packages.
  • The bands of white-space in ECL graphics files have been corrected. (Hi Frank Merrick!)
  • This program now does PCL4 300 dpi graphics. (Hi again Frank Merrick!)
  • This program now produces landscape mode images for registered users. Use of this feature requires the existence of the program ROTATE90.exe.
  • An improvement in the spacing of condensed characters is implemented.
  • This program now produces BitFAX standard resolution images properly. (Hi Paul Verboom!)
  • This program now produces NA page lengths of 2100 lines.
  • Another correction for ".ECL" files for Gerard Siebert. Aug. 3, 1997
  • A correction for ".PCL" files for Doug Segman. Sept 23, 1997

    Click here for VIEWFAX3.exe This program is the FAX/image view program for 1-Step HQ-FAX & 1-Step FAXHAVEN. Improvements are:

  • A bug in finding the top of the page in multi-page FAX files is corrected.
  • A bug in finding the beginning of the PCX segments of some DCX files is corrected.
  • The bug which treats an encoding error as an early end-of-file is corrected. (Hello Gerard Siebert & Rene V !) This program replaces the EXEcutable program VIEWFAX3.exe in your HQFAX directory.
